Adopted roadmap for the implementation of the new generation network and Industry 4.0
The Ministry of Economic Development, in cooperation with the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (EKIP), aware of the importance of the entire digitalization process, prepared a Roadmap for the introduction of 5G mobile communication networks, which was adopted by the Government on December 23.
Fifth generation (5G) mobile communication networks represent one of the most important segments of the overall digital transformation of society based on the Industry 4.0 concept.
Measures and policy reforms envisaged in the forthcoming Roadmap relate to the harmonization of the regulatory framework in the field of electronic communications with EU regulations, ensuring the smooth use of radio frequencies from the pioneering 5G bands for the implementation of 5G mobile networks throughout Montenegro.
The measures envisaged by the Map also refer to the implementation of pilot projects in order to enable testing of 5G technology, allocation of radio frequencies for early implementation of 5G mobile communication networks, removal of barriers in building telecommunications infrastructure and installation of broadband elements, as well as raising awareness of 5G mobile communication networks.
The roadmap for the introduction of 5G mobile communications networks is also an important segment of the Memorandum of Understanding on the 5G Plan for Digital Transformation of the Western Balkans region, to which Montenegro is a signatory.
