Construction of a 6.6m-euro primary collector has begun
The construction of the Wastewater Treatment System in Podgorica has begun with the construction of a primary collector worth 6.6 million euros.
The Mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vukovic, said that this project was called the project of the century for the Capital City. It creates the preconditions for the long-term development of Podgorica, provides permanent protection of the Moraca River, groundwater and water sources in the Skadar Lake basin.
‘With a total value of 50 million euros, this project includes four components – a primary collector over 5 kilometres long, whose construction begins on May 18, the construction of a new 20 kilometres of sewerage network, with which we will officially start tomorrow and the construction of a new bridge on the Moraca River which we expect to begin in the next two months. The construction of the wastewater treatment plant itself is planned for the beginning of next year’, Vukovic pointed out.
The complex engineering project, created in accordance with the most modern standards in the field of environmental protection, is the crown of the joint efforts of the Government of Montenegro and the Capital.
‘As a result of this strategic partnership during the mandate of the current Capital City administration, over 200 million euros will be invested in infrastructure projects within Podgorica’, Vukovic pointed out.
