Montenegro ranked 45th on the Global Innovation Index list
The 2019 Global Innovation Index, which measures the state of innovation in the world year after year, covers 129 countries.
For positioning, the report authors evaluate institutions, human capital and research, infrastructure, market, business, knowledge, technology and the creative performance of the observed countries.
According to the Global Innovation Index, Montenegro is ranked 45th, while Switzerland is the most innovative country in the world.
Observing the region, Serbia is ranked at 55th, Croatia at 44th, North Macedonia at 59th, Bosnia and Hercegovina at 76th and Albania at 83th.
At the top besides Switzerland, there are Sweden and the USA.
China (14th) is the only middle-income country among the 20 most innovative.
The overall conclusions of the report are that the world is hit by an economic slowdown of medium intensity due to weak economic growth, record low productivity growth and economic uncertainty.
On the other hand, the world is full of innovation, both in developed and developing countries. In both, innovations have been seen as a means of achieving economic and social development and are increasingly becoming accepted as significant and beyond technology.
