More than a billion euros invested in Montenegro in 16 months
The appearance of the corona virus has slowed, but has not stopped the inflow of foreign direct investment in Montenegro. In the first four months of this year, 282 million euros were poured into Montenegro. If we add to that the inflow of foreign investments amounted to 778 million last year, we come to the fact that more than a billion euros have been invested in our country in 16 months.
The most money was invested by NATO countries, around 400 million.
In 16 months, Russia has invested 95 million in our country, predominantly in domestic companies, but also in the real estate sales sector. There was no inflow of FDI from China last year, while 70 million euros were invested in four months this year.
Switzerland equates its investments in intercompany debt, which are investments that do not increase share capital. The inflow of foreign direct investments from Hungary amounted to 54.5 million, the United Arab Emirates 54, Italy and Germany 43, the Netherlands 40 and Turkey 39 million.
As for the countries of the region, Serbia has invested 44m euros in Montenegro in 16 months, Bosnia and Herzegovina 35m, Croatia 17th, Kosovo 10th, Albania 4.7m euros, while Northern Macedonia has invested 634,000 euros.
According to the data of the Central Bank of Montenegro, in 12 months of 2019, slightly more than 400 million euros flowed from our country. When it comes to four months this year, 101 million euros flowed out of the country.
The net inflow of foreign direct investments, i.e. the difference between their inflow and outflow in April amounted to 180.7 million euros, which is 78.6 percent more than in the same period last year.
