State support of 7 million euros to prepare for the season
Due to the negative trends in the tourism sector, caused by the COVID-19 virus pandemic, the Government of Montenegro has started the implementation of the program ‘Interest Subsidy on the Reprogramming of Existing Loans with IRFs and Commercial Banks’.
This program enables interested individuals, companies and entrepreneurs registered to perform tourism and catering activities to exercise the right to interest subsidy during the grace period, given during the reprogramming of existing special-purpose loans for tourism and catering.
The Ministry of Economic Development, which implements the mentioned program, has formed a commission for the implementation of activities related to the Public Invitation, which has analysed 200 received requests. Of the mentioned number, the payment of the total amount of interest during the grace period was approved for slightly more than 100 users, while for about 20 the payment of a part of the calculated interest was approved. Thus, subsidies will be provided for more than 120 companies, entrepreneurs and individuals. The implementation of this measure, in the total amount of 7 million euros, will contribute to increasing the liquidity of the tourism industry and will significantly facilitate the preparation of the upcoming tourist season.
